Eagles Basketball vs. Trinity Baptist College

Trying to achieve their third win of the season and improve to 2-1 in the conference, the PCC Eagles faced the TBC Eagles. With a tale of two halves, the teams were locked in a 40-minute battle. Unfortunately, the TBC Eagles won 76-73.

With a slow start to the first half, the PCC Eagles went scoreless in the first four and a half minutes. With TBC going on an 8-0 run for the first parts of the game, the Eagles fell behind early. Eagles couldn’t get any closer than 7 points in the first half, ultimately falling behind 39-24 at the end of the first.

After Liam Gerdts opened the second half with a three-pointer, the Eagles were in comeback mode. After nine back-and-forth scoring possessions, both Eagles were locked in a battle. The TBC Eagles held a 13-point lead with 6:21 left as the game progressed. Feeling the desperation, the Eagles continued to fight. With 58 seconds left, junior Aaron Wagner hit a tough three to put the Eagles down by just one point. After back-to-back fouls by the Eagles, TBC was at the free-throw line and converted on both attempts to stretch the lead back to three. As the Eagles continued to battle, as the seconds dwindled, and the free throws fell for TBC, the Eagles felt the game slip away as the final buzzer sounded. Leading the Eagles tonight and setting a new career high was Aaron Wagner, who had 24 points on 9-14 shooting and going 4-5 from behind the arc!
