Eagles Basketball vs. Toccoa Falls College (W 90-70)

After the first matchup at Toccoa Falls did not go the way, they had hoped, today the Eagles did a complete 180 turnaround. After a tightly contested first half the Eagles led by 1 going into halftime. The second half was another complete turnaround for the Eagles as they came out shooting the ball exceptionally well, leading them to eventually win by 20 against the Screaming Eagles, 90-70.
 
Toccoa Falls started the game hot as they went up 9-3 in the first four minutes. After subbing into the game, Lucas Hernandez came into the game and hit two three-pointers in a matter of three possessions to bring the deficit down to just 2-points. The remainder of the first half went back and forth between the two teams. The Eagles finished the first half with a lead of one point with a score of 38-37. Liam Gerdts led the team in the first half with 12 points and Brandtley Koske was on his heels with 9 points.
 
After halftime, the Eagles came out HOT and went on an 11-2 run to open the second half. After growing their lead to 10 points with 16:23 on the clock, the Eagles continued to battle and stretch their lead throughout the second half. In less than two minutes, the Eagles lead went from 8 points to 17 points! With Brandtley Koske knocking down three, threes and Aaron Wagner hitting one going on a 9-0 run between the two of them… those threes were the final run that put Toccoa Falls out of reach. After the lead grew as large as 23 points, the Eagles heard the final buzzer sound with 90-70 on the scoreboard over their South Region opponent, Toccoa Falls College.
 
As a team, the Eagles shot 16-37 from 3PT land (43.2%) and 33-69 FG shooting (47.8%). While the team played amazingly, the individual performances cannot be overlooked… Liam Gerdts led both on the boards and on the scoreboard with 25 points and 10 rebounds in his second double-double of the season. But the performance of the night came from Brandtley Koske who recorded 23 points on 5-8 shooting from behind the arc! Finally, in only 16 minutes of play Lucas Hernandez recorded 12 points on 4-7 shooting from 3PT land.
