Eagle’s Soccer vs. LaGrange College

Tonight, was a tough matchup for the Eagles as they faced NCAA D3 opponent LaGrange College. With a tale of two halves, the Eagles and the Panthers ultimately came to a draw at the end of 90 minutes with a 3-3 score.
 
With an early delay due to inclement weather, the teams were forced to pause the game just 7 minutes into the game. After waiting 40 minutes, the teams resumed play. After just 2 minutes of being back on the field, LaGrange struck first scoring a goal in the 9th minute of the game. Just under ten minutes later, junior Dakotah Barchus found his third goal of the season with the assist coming from fellow junior Chase Hawkins. Near the end of the half, the Panthers struck again scoring their second goal of the half and taking a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
 
While the Panthers won the possession and pressure aspect of the game in the first half, the Eagles came out of halftime and turned the tables by applying high pressure and possessing in the midfield. Although the Eagles came out with new energy and aggressiveness the Panther netted their third goal of the game in the 48th minute giving them a 3-1 lead with 42 minutes remaining. With continuous pressure and increased chances, Giovanni Pauliello found his 4th goal of the season coming off an assist from Lourenco Goncalves in the 57th minute. The Eagles, now down 3-2, had only 33 minutes left in the game. As they neared the end of the match, the Eagles sensed their unbeaten season nearing jeopardy as they entered the 76th minute. Off a corner kick, freshman Jacob Bundy found an opening where he put a ball through to Chase Hawkins when Chase put a beautiful shot into the top corner and tied the game 3-3. After a late push by the Panthers, the game ended in a thrilling 3-3 tie, allowing the Eagles to remain undefeated in their 2023 season.
