Eagle’s Soccer vs. Trinity Baptist College

After being dealt a draw on September 16th and a loss on September 21st, the Eagles entered their matchup with South Region opponent Trinity Baptist College in hopes of returning to the win column. After some early back and forth, the Eagles opened the scoring in the 31st minute and never looked back, grabbing their 7th win of the 2023 season!

With junior Dakotah Barchus out for tonight’s match Coach Liwosz looked to freshman Eric Romero to start in the midfield. Although the Eagles did not have Barchus, the team rallied and was able to force an own goal in the 31st minute of play breaking open the scoring. Just eight minutes later, sophomore Reid Rhodes netted his third goal of the season coming off an error from the TBC keeper. With 24 minutes remaining in the half, the PCC Eagles dominated the possession and entered halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the Eagle’s seven wins, six of those wins have come with the Eagles leading the scoring at halftime, which means the Eagles are winning 85% of their games when leading at the half!

No more than 50 seconds into the second half, Reid Rhodes recorded his second goal of the game coming off a beautiful through-ball from Niwe Mugeni. With this goal, Rhodes pushed his season-scoring total to 4 goals while Mugeni grabbed his 3rd assist of the season. After 18 minutes of play, TBC was able to score their first goal of the match coming off the left foot of Ashton Karney. With the PCC Eagles still holding a 3-1 lead, in the 84th minute of the game, Chase Hawkins sent a long through ball up to sophomore Branson Phelps who put a beautiful cross directly into the foot of junior Lourenco Goncalves for the game-ending goal. With this goal, Goncalves moves into second in the country in goals scored with six goals this season!
