After three preseason games, the Lady Eagles finally took the court in their regular season opener against Ecclesia College. Off to a blazing start, the Lady Eagles dominated the game and ultimately pulled out a 77-36 victory over their NCCAA DI opponent.
With senior Kyelie Marquis knocking down a three, the Lady Eagles were off to the races dominating the first quarter. With a substitution just inside the 5-minute mark, the Eagles were only leading 6-3. But with a strong ending to the quarter, the Lady Eagles entered the second quarter with a 25-7 lead. As the teams entered the half, Ecclesia played the Lady Eagles tighter only losing the second quarter by a score of 20-14. As the teams entered the half, the Lady Eagles were up 45-21.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles came into the second half the same way they started the first. Winning the third quarter by a score of 20-7, the score now stood at 65-28. With the win in sight, Coach Sellars was able to play many of his new players. With freshman Gracee Bieber and Nevaeh Clophus both scoring their first points of their careers in the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles comfortably cruised to their 77-39 victory.
Leading the team was senior Jenna Wolford, who scored 15 points on 40% 3PT shooting, and freshman Sky Boyd, who set her career high at 12 points in her first career game! As a team, the Lady Eagles shot 35% from the field and 37% from the three!
