After a three-game weekend, the Lady Eagles turned around to face Welch College in their fourth game in five days. After a little bit of a slow start, both the Lady Eagles and the Lady Flames found their groove. After a close first quarter, the Lady Eagles became dominant, ultimately winning the game by a final score of 85-67.
After both teams started slowly, the first quarter was a back-and-forth battle. As the quarter got under the final minute, the Lady Eagles put together a 6-1 run in the last 50 seconds giving them a 27-21 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Using this momentum, the Lady Eagles dominated the second quarter! Winning the 2nd by a score of 21-8, the Lady Eagles were able to force 10 turnovers in the 2nd quarter.
As the teams came out of halftime, the Lady Eagles commanded a 48-29 lead. Although Welch outscored PCC in the second half 38-37, the team had built a large enough lead to sustain their victory. With the scoring being very spread tonight, Montse Torres totaled 16 points, Alissa Brewer scored a season-high 15 points, and Jenna Wolford scored 12 points on 4/9 shooting from behind the arc. But, tonight Sky Boyd and Kristin Mentzer stole the show. Mentzer recorded the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes played while Sky Boyd led the team with a new career-high 18 points!
